After lots of publicity praise and coverage of the iPhone app “brushes”, I took the plunge and bought it yesterday, for the price of a small tube of watercolor paint, $4.99, you get a simple, quick and beautiful app capable of letting your painting passions fly.
Everything about the app is simple, you’ve three brush styles, various thickness levels, and a standard color palette for choosing colors from.
In typical mac style, you’re presented a canvas without any set pixel size being told to you, you simply know that it’s 100%.
You can zoom, pan, and magnify the canvas to your hearts content, and you paint with your finger as the brush, painting several strokes to make parts darker, just like watercolor.
I’ve yet to experience, what the quality and file sizes will be like after exporting from the iPhone, but I do know that the quality is good enough that the new yorker was able to use a creation from brushes for their front cover about two months ago.
And so I highly recommend you give brushes a try and please share your creations with me!!
Below are my first tries.
